Fundraising volunteer, Rob Ross, is co-ordinating an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the number of high-fives by an individual in a 24 hour period. Michael Cotter is the man who inspired the idea as you simply can't get him to stop high fiving people when he gets going!
It’s all happening this Saturday 29th August, at the Festival Of World Cultures and it's all in aid of UNICEF Ireland. Michael will be near the Ferris Wheel & food stands at the Green Area in Sandycove.
The current record is around 3200ish, the guys are aiming for 5000! A documentary about the attempt is also to be filmed during the attempt.
Medentech- who are a producer of water purification tablets used by UNICEF overseas - have agreed to sponsor 1 purification kit per high five, which works out at around 5 million litres of fresh water for children who need access to clean drinking water, if they succeed in breaking the record. The guys are also looking for sponsorship and people to help by coming and taking part on the day.
The Festival of World Cultures at Dun Laoghaire is a fantastic day / night out! Please come along and support the guys in their attempt to break a World Record in aid of UNICEF.
Just give a high-five and help save a life!
