UNICEF Ireland and Fyffes have launched a cool art competition for primary school children. Children all over the country are invited to design a poster that tells the story of malaria and how it can be prevented. There are fantastic prizes for both teacher and students to be won including:

Teacher prize: Luxury 2 night Weekend Break in ireLand for the teacher of the winning entry

Student prizes:

• 1st prize: xBox 360 + kinect sensor and Fyffes will donate €500 to uniceF on the school’s behalf
• 2nd prize: nintendo 3ds and Fyffes will donate €350 to UNICEF on the school’s behalf
• 3rd Prize: nintendo Wii + Wii Fit and Fyffes will donate €250 to UNICEF on the school’s behalf

UNICEF is the world’s largest provider of insecticide-treated mosquito bed nets, which help protect families from malaria.

In Mozambique alone, almost 36,000 children under the age of five will die each year (that’s about one child every fifteen minutes) as a result of malaria. Over five years, Fyffes is helping UNICEF to prevent the spread of malaria amongst orphaned and other vulnerable children in Mozambique through the distribution of mosquito nets and the support of health facilities and community projects. To find out more information about malaria and how it can be prevented visit www.fyffes.com/unicef or www.unicef.ie

If you would like your whole school or just a few classes to participate in our competition, ask each student to design a poster and send your entries to: Fyffes supporting UNICEF Competition, UNICEF Ireland, 33 Lower Ormond Quay, Dublin 1

Entries must be received on or before 25 May 2012.

Each poster must be accompanied with the following details:

  • Student Name & Age
  • Class & Teachers Name
  • School Name & Address
  • School Phone Number
  • School Email

Due to the anticipated high number of entries, unfortunately we are not in a position to return same. However, we will select a number of posters and display these on our website and in our shop so if you would like to pop in – keep an eye out for yours! This year some entries will also be brought over to primary school students in Mozambique who are also taking part and designing posters for this competition. The winning posters will be chosen by our judging panel (Artist and author Don Conroy and Dustin the Turkey). We will announce the winner on www.fyffes.com/unicef and www.unicef.ie on 13th June 2012.

If you have any questions please feel free to email Mike@unicef.ie or Kelley@pembrokecomms.ie.
