On Friday, March 12th 2010, UNICEF Ireland will host their annual Mother’s Day Lunch in aid of their global safe motherhood programmes in the D4Berkeley Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.
Very special guests at the annual lunch in previous years have included: Gabriel Byrne, Annie Lennox, Sir Roger Moore, Vanessa Redgrave and Jeremy Irons. Tickets are now on sale for the lunch and make ideal Mother’s Day gifts as a way to spoil your mum to a great day out.
It’s the one gift that every mother wants to receive – the delivery of a healthy baby
All proceeds from the Lunch go to UNICEF Safe Motherhood programmes across the world. For many families here in Ireland and across the world, pregnancy and the birth of a new baby are occasions of joyful celebration. But in developing countries, they can also be times of anxiety over the survival of both the mother and the new baby. UNICEF is working to put an end to the unnecessary deaths of almost 1,500 women who die every day, from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth. Funds raised at this year’s lunch will help UNICEF save countless lives of mothers and their newborn children across the world.
