UNICEF Ireland has launched a new campaign, It's Time to Share, to support children in crisis in East Africa.
As the famine in Somalia continues to spread, we're encouraging our supporters to share a little of what they have to help malnourished children across East Africa.

Share what you can
Right now, a child is dying of hunger in Somalia every six minutes. And unless we do something about it, children are going to continue dying. It’s simple. These children are starving. We’re not. They have no food. We do. So it’s time to share what we can to save lives.
Over 2.3 million children in Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia are malnourished. Severe drought, soaring food prices and conflict have left these millions of children at risk of starvation and disease across the Horn of Africa. We can save children's lives if we share what we have now.
What UNICEF is Doing
UNICEF is one of the largest agencies in Somalia, leading the humanitarian provision of food, clean drinking water and proper sanitation.
- So far this month, by plane, truck and ship, we've delivered 1,300 tons of life-saving aid to southern Somalia
- We will feed over 3 million people over the next half year in Somalia alone
- We've delivered 350 School-in-a-Box kits and 38 emergency school tents in Ethiopia so children in refugee camps can go to school
- We're immunising 2.5 million children against measles in Somalia
UNICEF's long-term solutions also help prevent child starvation and we work with families to help them become more resilient to recurrent drought.
