Right now, 17,000 children are caught in crisis after a devastating flash flood tore through Nepal.
Over 1,000 people have died and more than 4,000 are still missing. Homes, schools and hospitals have been swept away. Roads and water systems are destroyed, leaving many children without clean water, food or medical care, and at growing risk of disease and malnutrition. An estimated 2,600 young children need urgent treatment for severe acute malnutrition.
UNICEF teams are on the ground now, delivering emergency medical care, food and clean water to families who have lost everything.

Sonika and her little brother barely survived

She kept running, carrying her brother through the jungle as people shouted for everyone to climb higher. She had no idea where her parents were.
The family survived. But now they have nothing but the clothes on their backs, each other, and the help of people like you.

UNICEF is on the ground helping children now
UNICEF teams are on the ground in Nepal now. We were there before the flood, and are scaling up our help for children now, moving supplies every day to affected areas. With support from people like you, our teams are providing medical tents, over 1,000 bed nets and more than 1,400 newborn kits to the hardest-hit communities.
The flooding means the risk of malnutrition in children is climbing fast, so UNICEF is rapidly moving therapeutic food and micronutrient supplies to where they’re needed most.
And with over 50,000 people without clean water, our staff have provided emergency hygiene kits and other water and sanitation supplies to over 19,000 people, with longer-term rehabilitation planned for Nepal’s damaged water systems.
This is what nearly 80 years of experience delivers: action across every area a child needs to survive and recover. But we can only do it with your help now.
