Mother's Day Lunch

Mother's Day Lunch

We appreciate that even in the safest of circumstances, motherhood can be a difficult feat.

For many however, the struggle is exacerbated by a lack of education and healthcare, poverty, and dangers that threaten a safe pregnancy and childbirth. With the majority of maternal and newborn mortality occurring in the developing world, the wellbeing of many is put at risk.

That is why we at UNICEF are inspired by mothers to carry out the work that we do. We admire the sacrifices made by mothers for their children every day and want to celebrate the journey of motherhood by giving something back. The influence a mother plays for a child cannot be underestimated; in a healthy and safe environment, they play a vital role in making the world a better place.

Annual Mother’s Day Lunch Event

We would like to invite you to offer your support for UNICEF Ireland by joining us for our annual Mother’s Day Lunch in Dublin. It is a wonderful way to enjoy the afternoon with a loved one; whether that be your mother, daughter, or with friends.

The Mother’s Day event allows us to make a real difference for our children, with all proceeds going towards funding for our Safe Motherhood Programmes. These programmes provide lifesaving assistance for the most vulnerable mothers and babies around the world, and help us to better ensure that mothers enjoy the gift of their children.

Each year, more than 500,000 women die in childbirth or from complications during pregnancy, and the simple and selfless act of caring for children can be a challenge for mothers everywhere.

A well-marked event in the capital city, our 2018 event saw the 21st anniversary of the UNICEF Mother’s Day Lunch.

This year’s UNICEF lunch was also a great success. Held in the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin and hosted by Anne Doyle, it was a fantastic day with plenty of delicious food, beverages and raffle prizes. The 2019 event featured a fashion show hosted by Arnotts department store, and a talk by the UNICEF board member and ambassador, Donncha O’ Callaghan.

How You Can Get Involved

There are many different ways to get involved with UNICEF Ireland’s Annual Events and make an impact:

  • If you are a business or investor, you can sponsor one of our events.
  • We are always grateful to be supplied with products for our goodie bags and raffle prizes.
  • You can provide services that are relevant to events, such as AV, entertainment, floral arrangements, and catering.
  • Or simply by attending one of our events – we would be delighted to have your support.

For more details on the above please contact Shannen on (0)1 878 3000 or shannen@unicef.ie.

Grateful for mothers everywhere, UNICEF are working hard to put an end to the unnecessary deaths of women from complications in childbirth and pregnancy.

Thanks to the generosity of UNICEF supporters at our Mother’s Day Lunch, we can continue our work supporting them.
