Girls Miss Out on Education

Afghanistan has long been one of the most difficult places to be a child, and the situation is getting worse, especially for girls.

Over 1 million girls in grades 7-12 no longer have access to education. This impacts the opportunities they will have in the future and puts them at greater risk of exploitation and abuse, including child trafficking, early and forced marriage.

With your support we can help them.

What UNICEF is Doing

UNICEF has been in Afghanistan for 70 years and we will continue to be there, advocating for the rights of girls and all children.

We believe everyone deserve the same access to education and we will continue to support communities throughout the country during these especially difficult times.

Donations will help to:

  • Provide 38 million textbooks needed in schools
  • Train 1,200 female teachers
  • Expand our Community-Based Education classes

We are also working on innovative ways to ensure learning can continue, such as lessons on tablets and via radio or TV so that we can provide as much access to education as possible.

Donate today to help support girls and children in Afghanistan today.

UNICEF wants to see every girl and boy across Afghanistan in school and learning, We will not stop advocating until that goal is achieved. Not only is education a right for every child, it is the foundation for future growth in Afghanistan.

How You Can Help

When others left last August, UNICEF stayed and delivered. We value the trust communities place in us and we will continue  expanding into new areas so that we can reach more children and mothers.

We couldn’t do what we do without your help. Below are some ways you can see where your generosity can help:

  • Your 250 could provide a two-month scholarship for a female student to complete her teacher training
  • Your €100 will provide 2 year’s supply of essential school materials for 20 children
  • Your €75 could supply 150 exercise books and 30 boxes of pencils to girls and boys across Afghanistan

Please help girls in Afghanistan by donating now to UNICEF Ireland.

It will make a difference.
