In Yemen 12 Million Children Need Urgent Help

After seven years of brutal war, children in Yemen have never needed you more.

The country is in the grip of a terrible food crisis that is now getting even worse because of the war in Ukraine.

Yemen is directly affected by the war in Ukraine as the country imports 30% of its wheat from Ukraine.

Now that a vital source has been lost, Yemen’s food prices are skyrocketing and supplies are running low.

The situation is now so bad that nearly all of Yemen’s children – 4 out of 5 – need urgent humanitarian help to survive.

Twice the number of all the children in Ireland – over 2 million – are dangerously malnourished and need immediate treatment, while more than 400,000 are now facing starvation.

Children in Yemen are so close to death. They need your help now.

Every Ten Minutes a Child Dies From Preventable Causes

Over 2 million Yemeni children, under the age of five, are now malnourished.

400,000 of these children are suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), the most life-threatening form of malnutrition.

Half of Yemen’s hospitals have been destroyed by fighting. Those that are left are struggling to cope with COVID-19 and the rising cases of malnutrition.

Right now, Yemen is facing unprecedented levels of hunger. The existing crisis has now been worsened by war in Europe, COVID-19, inflation and climate change.

Children in Yemen are facing a daily struggle to survive in what is the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

How Will My Donation Help Children?

UNICEF is on the ground working around the clock to protect children in Yemen.

Since the start of the crisis, we have helped to reach more than 4 million children with over 3,000 tonnes of life-saving supplies, including emergency food, safe drinking water and health care supplies.

We need to do more. As the situation gets worse more and more children need our help.

We simply don’t have enough funds to reach every child in urgent need. We need to act now before it’s too late.

With your help we can continue to provide essential life-saving supplies to the children who need it the most.

Please make a donation today.
