Since the start of the Pampers-UNICEF partnership in 2006,  Irish mums and dads have donated over 17 million vaccines to the life-saving campaign to eliminate Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT). Globally, the campaign has resulted in the donation of over 300 million vaccines, helping to protect 100 million women and their newborns.

1 pack = 1 vaccine

This year, TV3 presenter and mum-of-two, Anna Daly, is inviting parents across Ireland to join together and support the Pampers and UNICEF ‘Every Parent’s Dream’ campaign. For every specially marked pack of Pampers you buy during October – December 2013, Pampers will donate the cost of one vaccine to help UNICEF in the fight against Maternal and Newborn Tetanus (MNT).

MNT eliminated in ten of the world’s poorest countries

Every parent’s dream, wherever they are in the world, is for a healthy start in life for their baby. Thanks to the collective support of parents across the globe, Pampers and UNICEF have already helped to eliminate MNT in ten of the world’s poorest countries: Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Myanmar, Senegal, Tanzania, Timor Leste and Uganda. But there are still babies in 30 of the world’s poorest countries at risk from this fatal but preventable disease.

“As a mum myself, my only dream for my babies was that they would be born healthy and happy”

Anna Daly, campaign spokesperson explains why she’s supporting the campaign this year: “I’m supporting the Pampers and UNICEF ‘Every Parent’s Dream’ campaign, to celebrate the fantastic progress made so far in eliminating Maternal and Newborn Tetanus. As a mum myself, my only dream for my babies was that they would be born healthy and happy. It’s great to see how the efforts of parents everywhere have helped make that dream a reality for parents in some of the world’s poorest countries. There is still much more to be done though with 100 million women and their newborns still at risk.”

“Together we can support UNICEF to help more parents make sure their babies get a healthy start by protecting them against MNT. It’s so easy – you can either buy a specially marked pack of Pampers or watch one of our campaign videos below. For every view, or special pack of Pampers bought, Pampers will donate the cost of an additional vaccine to UNICEF, helping us get closer to our ultimate goal of achieving global elimination of MNT”

MNT occurs when newborns or mothers are infected at birth, often as a result of unhygienic birthing practices. It is however entirely preventable through simple injections administered to pregnant women and girls of child bearing age.

1 View = 1 Life-Saving Vaccine

For each view of our films during October – December 2013, Pampers will donate for example the cost of one tetanus vaccine to support UNICEF in the fight against MNT. Each film depicts what a healthy start to life can bring, through the eyes of children.
