In Afghanistan, seven-year-old Shamsuddin helps his six-year-old sister Sahar into a warm new coat part of a UNICEF winter clothing kit they received. Winters in Panjshir, Afghanistan, are brutally cold, with temperatures plunging to -20°C. Most families have no way to heat their homes, and many parents simply cannot afford warm clothes for their children.

To help families through these freezing months, UNICEF distributed thousands of winter clothing kits to those most in need.

Each kit provides essential warmth for a family of seven; including coats, boots, scarves, gloves, socks, and hats, ensuring that the most vulnerable children received the protection and comfort they need to make it through the winter.
