UNICEF delivered life-saving food to this child in August – you can help send more today.
You can help starving families in Gaza
Right now, famine is tightening its grip on Gaza. Over 14,000 young children are on the brink of death from starvation – a sharp and dangerous rise on figures reported in July.
In freezing tents and in overwhelmed, barely-functioning hospitals, thousands of parents are watching the unthinkable unfold: their children growing weaker by the day, while the help they need to survive is just out of reach.
But the fragile ceasefire has now opened a window to act. UNICEF teams on the ground are scaling up emergency work to reach families before it is too late. In recent months, hundreds of UNICEF trucks have delivered life-saving food across the border, keeping children alive in the most desperate conditions.
We can deliver more, but only with your help. Your donation today can put food into a mum’s hands before she has to say a heartbreaking goodbye to her child. Your support ensures that when she whispers , “Hold on, little one,” we can answer: “Help is coming.”

A story of every child
Aziza’s story is a composite drawn from dozens of real, tragic cases and horrific details our teams have documented.
“My name is Fatima. My granddaughter Aziza was cut from her dead mother’s belly the day a bomb destroyed our home, killing our entire family. From the beginning I knew how fragile she was – her body tiny and frail because she didn’t get enough food in the womb. Since then her condition has gotten worse: there are days now when she has no food at all.
“Before the war, I had never asked anyone for anything. Now I beg, I plead, I ask everyone I can to help me save Aziza. I pray for her to smile. I long for her to wail. But Aziza is silent. She barely moves.
“I don’t know how much longer my granddaughter has to live. I don’t fear death for myself, but I dread dying first and leaving Aziza all alone. Every day I’m losing her a little bit more. I have nothing to give her. All I can do is whisper in her ear, “Hold on my little one, help is coming.”
Aziza is not a real child, but her story is every child’s story in Gaza. It reflects the tragic reality for thousands of starving children who will not survive without immediate help. You can help provide it today.

UNICEF is getting aid into Gaza now
UNICEF teams on the ground in Gaza have been helping children since long before October 2023 – and with the help of supporters like you, we will keep standing by Gaza’s children.
As a UN agency, we have been able to deliver hundreds of trucks filled with essential supplies and life-saving food in recent months and continue to reach children every day. In September alone, we delivered 2,300 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food – enough to pull 3,000 children back from severe malnutrition.
And in just one recent week, we distributed more than 520,000 jars of baby food, three million diapers and 6,000 hygiene kits. When aid convoys are slowed, we give cash directly to families to purchase items in local markets – currently 100,000 people are assisted with cash every month.
When you give to UNICEF, you are putting food directly into a starving child’s hands. So please give today – every hour lost risks another child’s life.
