Transition Year work experience

Take part in our unique TY work experience training programme with students from all around Ireland.

UNICEF Ireland’s unique TY work experience programme is designed to give students the experience of being an activist on the United Nations Global Goals. To facilitate students from outside of Dublin, we have designed a one day training course in Dublin with the rest of the placement carried out in your school running campaigns and student workshops.

You will come together with TY students from around Ireland to learn about the UN Global Goals and the tools needed to raise awareness.

On the training you will design an action plan of activities to that you’ll carry out for a full week in your school or community.

We encourage students to attend with a classmate so that they can jointly take on the following actions:

  • delivering a UNICEF workshop in school
  • running lunchtime awareness raising activities, for example a short film/TED talk and discussion
  • After school community-based actions with friends

At the end of the week in your school or community, every student contributes a blog about their experience to our website and social media pages. You will be awarded a UNICEF certificate of achievement and be invited to join our community of Youth Activists.

Our TY programme is highly active and integrated and will require you to get the support of your TY coordinator to make sure that you will be able to follow through with all of the activities outlined above.
