UNICEF supports schools around the world, and we help uphold rights respecting education in Ireland too - making sure every child, here and around the world, receive the rights they are entitled to.
Here at UNICEF Ireland we help empower schools and give young people, teachers and learning communities everything they need to create a rights respecting environment. Our Child Rights Education programmes provide adaptable resources such as lesson plans, posters, training, surveys, and guidance that support embedding the Convention on the Rights of the Child into everyday school life.
Through our Child Rights Schools initiative, schools adopt a whole‑school approach, engaging students, staff, and families in self‑assessment and actions over a meaningful journey toward becoming rights‑respecting environments.
The Child Rights Schools programme is a ‘whole school approach’ to Child Rights Education that embeds respect for rights throughout the school on an everyday basis. Children are supported to become active participants in learning and in school decision-making.
