Time is running out for children like Fares.
Help send children life-saving protection
Imagine a child sleeping in wet clothes on a cold night, with nothing between them and disease-carrying flood water but a flimsy tent.
This is the terrifying reality for children in Gaza. It is so deadly, at least 28 children have died from hypothermia over the last two winters.
For those who survived, this winter’s cold, wet nights could be their last.
Little Fares is one of those struggling to make it through. Her mum Maysaa has no warm clothes to keep her dry. When the rain comes, it soaks the mattresses in their makeshift tent.
“Every time we tried to remove the water, it came back,” Maysaa told us. “How will we survive the days ahead?”
Her family is one of many. 800,000 children have been forced from their homes. They are sheltering in crowded tents and dangerous, bombed-out buildings.
For a child already weak from hunger, hours in freezing, wet clothes can be deadly. Hypothermia and pneumonia set in fast. Hospitals in Gaza are barely functioning, and medicine is scarce. Without help, many will die.
But you can help save them now.
UNICEF teams are in Gaza helping children now. Your gift today can send them thermal blankets, warm clothes and medicine before it’s too late. Please, there isn’t a minute to lose.

You can help make this happen – a warm coat for a cold child.
Children can’t survive this winter alone
Last winter, thanks to donations from supporters in Ireland and around the world, UNICEF teams in Gaza:
- Distributed close to 1 million thermal blankets
- Gave winter clothing to around 330,000 children
- Delivered hundreds of thousands of tarpaulins and tents.
Since then, Palestinian children have faced a year of bombs, bullets, collapsed buildings, and brutal conditions.
The fight to survive is now even harder. We urgently need to reach more children now.
Your life-saving donation today can provide:
- Thermal blankets to give a child protection through long, freezing nights
- A full set of winter clothes, including a coat, hat and boots, to keep a child warm and dry
- Antibiotics and medicines to treat deadly winter illnesses like pneumonia
We can reach these children – but only with people like you.
When you give today, you’ll know the next time you come in from the rain, peel off your wet coat and put the heating on, that a child in Gaza is warmer and safer because you chose to act, and chose to act fast.

So much more than a tent
Your support today can help install UNICEF’s high-performance tents in Gaza. They can withstand winds of 80 km/h and are fully waterproof.
They have solid floors and straight sides, offering plenty of space for critical services like clinics. They can be connected to electricity sources or powered by solar – providing heat and light even in the coldest, darkest months.
