FAMINE CONDITIONS REMAIN IN GAZA
With a ceasefire in place, we finally have a chance to help children heal from the horror and trauma of two years of relentless war.
But the damage done to children and the massive destruction across Gaza will not be fixed overnight.
Famine continues to threaten the lives of thousands of children.
Over 500,000 people are trapped in in starvation and 320,000 young children are at immediate risk. Their lives are hanging by a thread.
The ceasefire is an opportunity to deliver a massive response that will save the lives of thousands of children – be we need your support for it to succeed.

UNICEF is rushing life-saving food to children today – you can help provide it
Famine is killing children in Gaza. For over two years, families have been terrorized by bombs, bullets, hunger and disease – with over 50,000 children killed or injured. And now, despite the ceasefire, families continue to face the horror of watching their children starve to death. They struggle to protect their little ones as famine leaves thousands hungry, frail, and fighting to survive.
Around 5,000 children now face severe acute malnutrition – bodies so weakened they are 11 times more likely to die than a healthy child. Every child under five – 320,000 children – is at risk. Waiting rooms are overflowing with frail toddlers and babies, and the number treated for malnutrition has nearly tripled this year.
UNICEF has been on the ground in Gaza for over 40 years. In recent months, hundreds of UNICEF trucks have brought essential aid into Gaza. We can and will deliver more life-saving food – but we need your help if we are to save more children from a painful death.
SEND YOUR HELP TODAYMaryam was once a happy young girl – now weak and starving, she needs immediate ongoing help.
Your kindness can help protect little lives
Maryam is just eight. You can see every bone in her frail body. Her hair is falling out. She asks her mum through tears, “What’s wrong with me?” Outside the hospital there is no food. Each time she goes home, she soon returns weaker.
Ola, once a top student proudly showing her science project, now faints from hunger. She says her head is “too heavy to carry.”
This is what famine looks like in Gaza: children too weak to stand and close to death, mothers helpless to feed them.
UNICEF is in Gaza every day, delivering life-saving food that can bring children like Maryam and Ola back from the brink of death. But without help from people like you, more children will die today.

UNICEF is getting aid into Gaza now
UNICEF has been helping children in Gaza since long before October 2023 – and with the help of supporters like you, we will keep standing by Gaza’s children.
As a UN agency, we have been able to deliver hundreds of trucks filled with essential supplies and life-saving food in recent months and continue to reach children every day. Even during the worst of the unacceptable restrictions on aid delivery, UNICEF staff remained in Gaza, ensuring children received medical care and families were provided with safe water.
We can only do this thanks to people like you. No matter how hard it gets, we will not leave while children need us. And with compassionate people like you standing with us, we will not stop.

A miracle lifesaver
Right now, UNICEF is delivering Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) to children in Gaza. This small, peanut-based sachet is a proven lifesaver. Inside are 500 calories of vital nutrients: exactly what a starving child’s body needs to recover.
With your support, parents can feed their children at home, sparing them dangerous, exhausting trips to hospital. Week by week, frail children gain strength, sometimes a whole kilo in just one week.
But the crisis is worsening. Every day, more children slip into severe malnutrition. We urgently need more RUTF to reach them before it’s too late.
Please give now – help UNICEF deliver this life-saving food to children and stop another mum from having to say a final goodbye to her child.
