Famine threat to
children in Gaza
FAMINE WARNING
Immediate threat to children
Amid the endless bombings in Gaza, children are now at risk from a catastrophic famine that could kill thousands.
This long-feared, worst-case scenario is on the brink of ravaging families, with the entire population expected to face extreme levels of acute food shortages now and in the coming months.
Nearly 470,000 people are facing catastrophic conditions that could kill them. And 71,000 children under five years old are predicted to suffer from acute malnutrition – with 14,100 severe cases – as the crisis continues this year.
They need urgent help if they are to survive.

You can save children from deadly
malnutrition
Thousands of traumatised children in Gaza are facing the catastrophic threat of famine. Having barely survived the endless bombs raining down on their tents and deadly diseases that infest their water, children, many of them injured, are now at risk of starving to death.
Nearly the entire population of Gaza is surviving on almost nothing. Over 470,000 people are at critical risk of catastrophic famine. Children have already died from malnutrition. For those still holding on, time is running out.
Despite the restrictions on aid supplies into Gaza, UNICEF has remained on the ground reaching children every day with life-saving food and screening thousands of children for malnutrition.
“Gaza is the hungriest place on earth,” Jens Laerke, a spokesman for the UN humanitarian agency OCHA, said.
