Ari was only four years old when his life was turned upside down as an earthquake and tsunami struck his island home in Indonesia. Ari and his family quickly found themselves without the most basic supplies.
But amongst the chaos they received a Child Survival Gift with lifesaving food, safe water and warm blankets to help them survive the disaster.
In Indonesia, the tsunamis that struck Sulawesi and Lombok affected over 1,5 million people and left some 500,000 in urgent need of water and sanitation services. As part of its emergency response, UNICEF and partners are providing water and sanitation services for thousands of displaced families – like Ari, his mum and his 4 younger siblings.
